Whirlpool Baths
Investing in whirlpool technology to recreate that luxurious spa experience in your own home is becoming more popular as people continue to see the bathroom as the room to escape the stresses and strains of everyday life.
A whirlpool bath has jets in the side through which the bath water is circulated using a pump. Air mixes with the water during this process to create the bubbles, and can be regulated with the use of a control on the side of the bath so that you can vary your experience from a gentle massage to a more invigorating soak.
So what's the difference between a whirlpool and a spa? Well, a whirlpool differs from a spa or 'air' bath in that it pumps both air and water through its jets, whereas a spa simply blows air through holes in the bottom of the bath. Also, to clean a whirlpool you add a cleansing solution to the water and allow it to run through the system, whereas with a spa bath you add a sterilising solution to the bottom of the bath and allow it to soak.
The Heritage new Cara whirlpool corner bath includes high quality precision jets for relaxation and all over massage experience, whilst benefiting from improved noise reduction.
Before purchasing a whirlpool or spa bath you should consider installation requirements. Are your floors strong enough? A typical whirlpool can weigh anywhere between 70 to over 100 kilograms whereas a standard acrylic bath is usually around 20 kilograms.
Consider access to the room and particularly ongoing access for servicing of the motor and system pipes. Some baths come with their own side panels which can be easily removed when servicing is needed.
The installation of any electrical devices such as sockets and switches should be carried out by a qualified electrician and must comply with all relevant safety standards.
Periodic cleaning of your system is recommended; refer to the manufacturers instructions as advice will vary according to the make and model of your bath.
